We’re happy to announce that we will be holding our second annual Ballin’ at the Beach Youth Basketball Tournament series on January 19th - 20th and February 23rd - 24th.

Tournaments will include both boys’ and girls’ 4th through 8th grade teams. Cost per team is $250 for one tournament, or $400 for both.

2018 Tournament Rules

*All games will be officiated by the North Coast Referee Association or similar *

Daily admission into gym is $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. (Please make sure your families are aware of this entry fee).

All tournaments will provide trophies for first, second, and third place in each division.

Saturday Pool Play games will be two eighteen-minute running halves and Sunday bracket games will be two twenty-minute running halves. The last two minutes of second half will be stop time. If a team has a fifteen-point or greater lead, the clock will continue to run the last two minutes of the game. Time-outs and injuries will be stop time. Half times will be four minutes (three minutes if games are running behind). First overtime will be 2 minutes of stop time and the second overtime will be sudden death. If a team is up by fifteen points or more, the winning team cannot press. No zone defense OR zone press in 4th/5th grade divisions.

* TIE-BREAKER Rule: Five Team Pool – A tie within a pool will be broken based on the least points allowed in the three previous games combined. Due to gym space availability and time, you will not play all five teams in your pool. The #1 team in each Pool will play four games on Saturday in order to allow all teams to play three games. The fourth game played by the #1 team will not count for seeding purposes. Based on win/loss records, seeding for Sunday’s brackets will be determined on Saturday evening.

Code of Conduct

We understand the excitement surrounding tournament play and the passion with which players will play, the coaches will coach, and the fans will cheer. We are committed to bringing you an unforgettable experience from the best competition to terrific venues, but we need something from you.

Conduct expectations for players, coaches, officials and spectators on the courts and in the stands are of the utmost importance. We expect all attendees to display good sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Negative comments toward all officials, including score keepers and clock operators, will not be tolerated, either during the game or after. Referees have the right to eject even after the end of the contest. All concerns regarding any game officials should only be directed by the coach to onsite tournament management.

We reserve the right to remove a player, coach or spectator from any tournament facility. The Tournament Director, Executive Committee and its personnel (including game officials and court supervisors) who observe poor sportsmanship or bad behavior, including, but not limited to: cursing, threatening language, physical intimidation or taunting may result in ejection. If ejected, the offender will be asked to leave the premises and may not be permitted back for the remainder of the tournament. No refunds will be given. If severe behavior is encountered, including, but not limited to violent acts (fighting, throwing a punch), the person will be immediately removed from the State Basketball Championship without refund.

The State Basketball Executive Committee and Tournament Director will review each incident on a case-by-case basis. At the discretion of the Executive Committee, the offending person(s) may lead to the entire team being disqualified from further participation.

We are committed to fair competition. Each player on a roster must supply eligibility information to be verified by the committee. If a player or team is found to alter eligibility information, add players who do not meet eligibility requirements or have not submitted such documents for review may result in a disqualification of that team and potentially any affiliated teams. We hold a zero tolerance policy for ineligible participants.

Our commitment to putting on a great and fair tournament is second only to the safety of our players, coaches, officials and spectators. We’re asking you to be accountable for your actions and to enjoy what’s sure to be an exciting series of tournaments.
